Alpaca Farm BC

Koksilah Acres specializes in quality suri alpacas and huacaya alpacas from white to black and every colour in between. Alpacas are raised for their fineness of fibre and warm temperment. Available in our Farm Store at Koksilah Acres are alpaca sweaters, alpaca socks, alpaca fabric, alpaca felt, alpaca yarn, alpaca rovings and alpaca raw fleeces. Alpacas without question are one of the most gorgeous creatures that roam our planet. Just the fact that alpacas come in 22 different colors makes them unique, but add to that their gentle nature, tranquil temperment, luxurious fibre, and gentle, calming humming sounds and you have an animal that no human can resist hugging.

The natural habitat of the alpaca is the high Andes of South America, but since 1984 they have also flourished on farms throughout the United States and Canada because they are so adaptable.

There are two different kinds of alpacas -- the suri alpaca which has fibre that appears to be in the form of dreadlocks and is very silky, and the huacaya (pronounced wa-ki-a) alpaca which has very colorful fibre that is extremely fine and gives the alpaca a woolly and round appearance.

Experience alpaca

Experience the wonder of Alpaca - the curiosity of the animals - soft silky fibre yet warmer and stronger than lamb’s wool. The exquisite fibre of the alpaca is too good to go unappreciated. To really appreciate alpaca products you must touch them, see their rich colours, and enjoy the charming animals that produce such heavenly fleeces. Experience the alpaca’s curiosity. In this high-tech world, it's easy to forget that some of the finest things around us are not man-made.

Alpaca is truly a natural wonder: cashmere soft, stronger than wool, in a huge array of natural shades. Alpaca requires only minimal processing to become the very finest product; making alpaca a truly eco-friendly textile. Sweaters, vests, shawls, socks, critters, puppets, and custom wear are available for yourself, or that special gift at the on site shop. I also have fabric, fibre, rovings, battings, and yarns.
